Tomorrow's A Big Day...

Tomorrow is a big day for me.
Life changing.
A new career.
That's right, I'm starting a new job tomorrow.  Eek!

I'm actually super excited, but nervous at the same time.  Another step forward in my new life.

See, this job isn't a typical show up at 8am and leave at 5pm kind of gig.  This is a 'remote' job since there's no regional office in my town. Say what?! Remote? Work from home? Why yes, I would love that, where do I sign up?

I had accepted this position on December 14, 2015, gave my notice and was done working at my old job on Wednesday the 23rd (due to the holidays and whatnot). Which meant, 11 days at home with my little, getting some 'much needed' things done around the house. Tomorrow being Jan 4th...I am beyond ready to 'work' again. I was excited, I even got my desk (kinda, sorta) set up here at the house. I even jumped on emailing my 'new people' as to what the game plan was going to be for tomorrow before they had a chance to email me first. (Does it show I'm a bit excited and ready for this big change in my life?!) My email asked who I would be meeting, where we would be meeting and what time. The answer I got was like music to my ears: a local Starbucks. Eek, really? Great! I'm there. We all know coffee is the way to my heart-literally (thump-thump, thump-thump). But I'm a little bummed as I won't have my business computer until later this week...so the first part of this week will be shadowing and observing. I do, however, even have a few meetings too (score!).

My mom keeps asking me what I'm actually going to be doing in this position since I technically won't start until 11am tomorrow at a local Starbucks (11am because we have snow/icy conditions here in the Pacific NW). I keep telling her...it's top secret and I can't tell you. Just kidding. I told her the 'general' idea of what the job is, but told her I'll have to inform her of what exactly the job entails once I get up and running fully- give me a few weeks, and I'll have a much better idea.

Once, in my previous life, I owned a business with my ex, so I have a general idea of what 'working out of your home' is like and what it entails. And I must say, I'm more excited than ever to have a 'remote' position based out of my home. Given my personality type and my work habits, I don't do well under micro management, but rather on my 'own' terms (Within reason). I know there will be deadlines, people to meet, meetings to attend and business to take care of...but working from home seems more inline with my personality. Of course, I'll miss being able to get up and walk to the next cubical to tell a joke, or head to the lunch table with the girls from the office or walk to the coffee bar for my morning and afternoon lattes.  But all good things must come to an end so better things can fall into place.

I'll report back on after my first day on the new job.

Have a fabulous first work Monday of 2016!
